22 September 2011. Wetlands International together with several environmental NGOs have written to the European Commission President, José Manuel Barroso, demanding action on five scientific studies that question the clean energy benefits of biofuels.
Description:
The five reports strongly question the environmental benefits of the use of biofuels instead of conventional fuels due to the indirect land use change at the cost of forests, wetlands and other ecosystems. The organisations fear that the studies, commissioned by the European Commission, are ignored.
